In the News

February 2020: Mara group attends the TMS national conference at San Diego, CA. Kevin Schmalbach, Justin Cheng and Albert Lin present their research.

November 2019: Moujhuri Sau joins the Mara research group as a new graduate student. Welcome!

October 2019: Kevin Schmalbach spends three months conducting research at EMPA Federal Laboratories in Thun, Switzerland.

May 2019: Justin Cheng spends three months conducting research and collaborating with staff scientists at Los Alamos National Labs.

May 2019: Kevin Schmalbach and Justin Cheng successfully complete their prelimary oral exams, advancing to Ph.D. candidacy. Congratulations!

March 2019: Mara group and inaugural UMN Bladesmithing team attend TMS conference in San Antonio, TX.

November 2018:  Mara, Cheng, Schmalbach, and Hoffman join the inaugural UMN Bladesmithing Team with Nathan Clough and Craig Johnson of Arms and Armor (Minneapolis) as collaborators/mentors, and Mara as faculty mentor.

August 2018:  Mara delivers invited talk at the Microscopy and Microanalysis meeting in Baltimore.
